Touro Infirmary Earns the Outstanding Achievement Award from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
This award recognizes cancer programs that achieve excellence in compliance to the CoC Standards and providing the highest quality care to cancer patients. Touro is one of a select group of 16 U.S. accredited programs to receive this national honor for cancer surveys performed July 1 – December 31, 2017. The purpose of the award is to encourage cancer programs to raise the bar on quality cancer care, with the ultimate goal of increase awareness about high quality, patient-centered care.

Touro was awarded two quality awards in stroke care by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Silver Plus Recognition and Target: Stroke Honor Role Elite Plus. Touro’s stroke team for puts these guidelines to work on a daily basis, continually working to improve quality of patient care and outcomes.
Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)
In 2016, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) presented Touro Rehabilitation Center with a three-year accreditation for the following programs:
Touro Infirmary’s Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic is the first practice in New Orleans to be awarded Ultrasound Practice Accreditation by The Ultrasound Practice Accreditation Council of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine in the areas of Obstetric - First Trimester, Obstetric - Second Trimester, and Obstetric - Third Trimester.
Touro’s Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic achieved this recognition by meeting rigorous voluntary guidelines set by the diagnostic ultrasound profession. The Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic at Touro is a full-service perinatology clinic with specially trained and certified physicians and staff who monitor the health of mother and baby and to treat patients with high-risk pregnancies.

Touro is proud to be a “Breastfeeding-Friendly Workplace Champion"
Touro Infirmary has been designated as a Breastfeeding-Friendly Workplace Champion by the Mary Amelia Douglas-Whited Community Women’s Health Center and the Louisiana Breastfeeding Coalition. Touro received this designation because it provides time, space, and support for employees who breastfeed or pump milk to feed their babies.
Touro was recognized as a Gold-Level Fit recipient of the American Heart Association’s Fit-Friendly Worksites Recognition program for helping employees eat better and move more.
The Fit-Friendly Worksites Program is a catalyst for positive change. Worksites throughout the nation can be part of the initiative making the health and wellness of their employees a priority.
Fit-Friendly Companies reach Gold level status by implementing various activities and programs to encourage physical activity, nutrition and culture enhancements such as on-site walking routes and healthy food choices in cafeterias and vending machines.

Touro Imaging Center Receives ACR Accreditation for MRI and CT
Touro Infirmary’s Imaging Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed topography (CT) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.
Touro Infirmary’s Women’s Imaging Center Designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology
By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, and breast ultrasound, including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Peer-review evaluations by board-certified physicians have determined that the Touro Women’s Imaging Center has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.
The ACR is a national professional organization serving more than 34,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
