Touro’s Cancer Program Receives 2011 Outstanding Achievement Award

Touro Infirmary’s Cancer Program has received the 2011 Outstanding Achievement Award and a three-year Accreditation with Commendation by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS). Touro is the only New Orleans area hospital to receive the 2011 OAA Award.

A facility receives a three-year Accreditation with Commendation following the on-site evaluation by a physician surveyor during which the facility demonstrates a commendation level of compliance with one or more standards that represent the full scope of the cancer program.

Touro Imaging Center Receives ACR Accreditation for MRI and CT

Touro Infirmary’s Imaging Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed topography (CT) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.

Touro Infirmary’s Women’s Imaging Center Designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology

By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, and breast ultrasound, including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Peer-review evaluations by board-certified physicians have determined that the Touro Women’s Imaging Center has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.

The ACR is a national professional organization serving more than 34,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.

Touro and Touro at Home Receive 2010 Louisiana Capstone Quality Awards

Touro and Touro at Home have received 2010 Louisiana Capstone Quality Awards for Hospital and Home Health categories. The awards are presented by eQHealth Solutions, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Louisiana.

The 2010 Louisiana Capstone Quality Awards recognize Touro as one of only 38 hospitals in the state and Touro at Home as one of 17 home health agencies in the state for achieving certain improvements in the quality of health care given to their patients. The awards are based on Appropriate Care Measures (ACM) providers were monitoring and improving upon during the first and second quarters of 2010.
