To promote careers in nursing and allied health, Touro Volunteer Services hosts a one-week Health Career Camp for high school juniors and seniors, July 28 – August 1. Twenty New Orleans area students from charter, public and private schools will participate this first year.
Each morning and afternoon, healthcare professionals in various departments meet with a team of three students for three-hours. The sessions include an overview of the area along with the opportunity to meet and observe nurses and allied health professionals at work. The curriculum also includes classes in CPR and disaster management.
In addition, students will have the opportunity to meet Touro’s nurse recruiters and representatives from several higher education partners.
