To promote careers in nursing and allied health, Touro Volunteer Services hosts a one-week Health Career Camp for high school juniors and seniors, July 27 – 31. Thirty-five New Orleans area students from charter, public and private schools will participate this year.
Each morning and afternoon, healthcare professionals in various departments meet with a team of three or four students for an hour and fifteen minutes. The sessions include an overview of the area along with the opportunity to meet and observe nurses and allied health professionals at work. The curriculum also includes classes in CPR and an emergency drill.
In addition, students will have the opportunity to meet Touro’s nurse recruiters and representatives from several higher education partners
