Patients
The following key elements are shared with you so that you may understand the actions we will be taking when a hurricane threatens the city:
  • We will attempt to reduce the number of patients in the building prior to a hurricane strike.
  • Our medical staff will identify patients who can be discharged and those needing medical evacuation prior to the hurricane to ensure their safety.
  • Patients ready for discharge will be notified early enough to allow ample time to evacuate and are asked to make transportation arrangements to safely evacuate the city.
  • Arrangements have been made to evacuate and relocate those patients needing continued specialized care. Family members are not allowed to evacuate with their loved ones.
  • Family members and visitors of patients are asked to make personal arrangements to ensure timely and safe evacuation from the city. These arrangements may include taking your loved one with you when evacuating if deemed safe and clinically appropriate by their physician.
  • We will not be sheltering family members of patients, visitors, or employees during the hurricane experience.

Thank you for participating in our hurricane evacuation plan as outlined above. Should you need additional information or assistance, please notify the nursing staff or your case manager.
