Imaging Services offered include:
Bone Mineral Density (BMD) scanning, also referred to as DEXA scanning, uses a small amount of radiation to determine the thickness or density of the bones. Bone density tests are safe, painless and simple - most of the time you won't even have to undress, and the test is usually over in a matter of minutes. Bone Mineral Density studies require scheduling (897-8380) and an order from your physician. There is no preparation required for this procedure. The study is performed in the Nuclear Medicine Department on the first floor of the hospital.
Computer Tomography (CAT SCAN) procedures may or may not include intravenous contrast injection. The instructions for your procedure will be explained to you at the time you schedule your appointment.
Ultrasound, Digital Angiography and Flouroscopy Examples of flouroscopy procedures include: Barium enema and GI series.
MQSA Mammography
If you have had a prior mammogram at another facility, it is helpful for you to bring your films with you at the time of your study. This allows the radiologist to compare the studies.
MRI and other Nuclear Medicine procedures are performed in the Nuclear Medicine Department on the first floor.
Touro has also updated its Radiology department with a Picture Archive Communication System (PACS). PACS replaces hardcopy based means of managing medical images by converting radiography images to a digital format (termed computed radiography, or CR). The software allows practitioners at various physical locations to access the same information simultaneously, improving our workflows in Radiology to better meet the needs of the hospital and referring community.
