Medical Staff Office
The Medical Staff Office, located on the Second Floor, coordinates Touro’s medical staff activities, including the membership application for physicians and allied health professionals and continuing education offerings. The staff will happily assist you with any questions you may have about the credentialing process; simply call (504) 897-8392. The Medical Staff Office will also provide you with information on the most current educational offerings including Grand Rounds presentations and the recurring Tumor, Cardiology, and Chest Conferences.
Physician Services
The Physician Services Department works with you and your staff to ensure an effortless interaction with Touro Infirmary. Upon your appointment to Touro’s medical staff, a physician liason will happily pay a visit to your office to provide a helpful orientation to the facility. You should always feel free to contact Physician Services with any questions or suggestions that may arise regarding day-to-day operational issues or administrative policies. Complimentary parking is available for all physicians in the Delachaise Street Garage, across from Touro’s Emergency Department. Covered access to Touro is available by a thirdfloor covered walkway. To exit the garage, simply write your Touro Physician # on the back of the parking stub, and present it to the attendant.
Physician Dining
The Physician Dining Room is located on the second floor near the cafeteria and the Medical Staff Office. Lunch is available from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Light refreshments and beverages are available until 3:00 p.m. The cafeteria, Touro Café, is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week.
Health Information Management Services (Medical Records)
Our Health Information Management Services department has a physician dictation room, complete with separate dictation areas for several physicians. Are you in a rush making rounds with no time for lunch? The physician dictation area is stocked with light refreshments; relax, grab a bite to eat, and complete a few records!
Touro offers electronic signature to physicians who use the automated dictation system. Computer terminals at each dictation station allow you to complete reports more quickly than thumbing through cumbersome charts. Ask for an appointment with the Director of Medical Records for a quick tutorial at (504) 897-8370.
Choice Healthcare PHO (CHI) is a separate and distinct organization from Touro Infirmary and its Medical Staff. This enables Choice to offer an alternative managed care product to insurance companies, managed care companies (HMO/PPO), and employees in an effort to increase the value of health care services and, at the same time, increase revenue for both physicians and Touro Infirmary.
Governance of CHI is by a Board of Directors comprised of nine physician representatives and three individuals representing Touro Infirmary.

Touro Infirmary welcomes its medical staff to utilize our Fitness Center, located on the Fifth Floor, free of charge. The facility is equipped with treadmills, Lifecycles, Stairmasters, Elliptical X-Trainers, free weights, and a co-ed hot tub. Call (504) 897-8186 for further information.

PACS (Picture Archieve Communication System)
Touro has updated its Radiology department with a Picture Archive Communication System (PACS). PACS replaces hardcopy based means of managing medical images by converting radiography images to a digital format (termed computed radiography, or CR). The software allows practitioners at various physical locations to access the same information simultaneously, improving our workflows in Radiology to better meet the needs of the hospital and referring community. Office Facilitator
