Touro Doctors to Receive 2010 Spirit Awards

NEW ORLEANS (July 16, 2010) – Every year, the American Cancer Society recognizes members of the community who have made significant contributions in the fight against cancer. Touro Infirmary radiologist and women’s imaging specialist Dr. Daniel Rupley and oncologist Dr. Milton W. Seiler, Jr. were selected this year as Spirit Award recipients.
 
Dr. Rupley received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University and graduated from medical school from Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He then completed his internship and residency at the University of California, Irvine, California College of Medicine specializing internal medicine and diagnostic radiology. He specializes in all areas of breast cancer imaging at Touro Infirmary.
 
Dr. Milton W. Seiler, Jr. received his undergraduate degree from Tulane University and his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical Center. He completed his research in hematology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX and medical oncology at Oschner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans. He specializes in oncology and practices at Cancer Care of Louisiana.
 
All of the Spirit Award recipients will be recognized at the tenth annual Hope Gala on Saturday, August 28th at the Shops at Canal Place. Proceeds from the Hope Gala benefit the American Cancer Society’s programs in research, education, advocacy and service.
 
Congratulations to Dr. Rupley and Dr. Seiler and all of the American Cancer Society Spirit Award recipients for their contributions to our community and the fight against cancer.
