Touro Medical Management Association 2008 Meeting Calendar

Thank you for your support in 2007 as we launched the Touro Medical Management Association. This meeting format has become a very effective way of communicating with our physicians, practice managers, billing managers, and other key physician office staff. For those interested in participating this year, membership is open to all Touro staff physicians and their staff. Simply join us at our next meeting!
Stay Informed!

In January we hosted nationally recognized practice management expert George Conomikes for a day-long seminar on creating a more profitable practice. Look for equally exciting topics in 2008 – as well as monthly updates about Touro Infirmary and state/federal mandates that affect your practices.
Save the Dates!

For your convenience and in an effort to reduce the impact on your busy practices, we are publishing the meeting schedule for the entire year. About one week prior to each meeting, we will distribute an agenda. The June and July meetings have been combined. That meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 30th. The agenda will be distributed in early July.

If you would like to suggest a topic to be added as an agenda item, please contact Touro’s Physician Services at 504-897-8083 or via email at greg.roques@touro.com.

The Touro Medical Management Association meeting on Thursday, October 30th.

Our two presenters were Dr. Reuben Chrestman on behalf of the new Touro imaging center at the corner of Napoleon and Claiborne Avenues – and Michelle Eichhorn with Passport Health®, a travel vaccine provider located in Metairie.

  • We will bring additional information to you about the new freestanding imaging center as the opening date gets closer.
  • If you are interested in learning more about the travel vaccine services offered by Passport Health®, please contact Greg Roques or Brian Fath me in Physician Services at 897-8083. You can also visit their website at http://www.passporthealthusa.com/.

As this was our last scheduled meeting of 2008, I would like to thank our members for their continued support and interest. We look forward to bringing you another year of healthcare updates and educational offerings in 2009.

Physician Nominations

You now have the opportunity to help our medical staff receive the recognition they deserve by nominating them as a Louisiana physician of the month. Two regional publications, Healthcare Highlights Magazine and Louisiana Medical News both feature columns highlighting a physician whose clinical achievements, areas of expertise, and outstanding patient care position them among the top professionals throughout the Louisiana medical community.

>> Healthcare Highlights
Magazine, published bi-monthly, featuresits "Doctor in Spotlight" column, profiling a MDeach fromBaton Rouge, Lafayette/Acadiana/Lake Charles, and New Orleans. Articles are composed based uponnomination content. You may reference the submission questions listed below.

Healthcare Highlights nominations can be sent to admin@healthcarehighlights.com.

>> Louisiana Medical News, published monthly, features a Louisiana doctor each month in its "Physician's Spotlight" column. The main criteria their editorial staff base their selection on is how interesting a physician’s story will tell --either because of their private personalities, professional pursuits, unique specialty or personal achievements. If a physician is chosen, their office will be contacted and an interview, lasting approximately one hour, will be scheduled between the physician and a reporter with the publication.

Louisiana Medical News nominations can be sent to editor@louisianamedicalnews.com, and/or Patricia Gannon, Physician Spotlight columnist, at patricia@louisianamedicalnews.com.

>> Physician nominations may include - but are not limited to - the following information:
  • What makes your doctor a great physician? What separates them from other doctors practicing their specialty?
  • Where does he/she currently practice
  • What do his/her patients say about them?
  • When did he/she first become interested in medicine? Their specialty?
  • Where did they receive their education? Complete their residency?
  • Describe a typical work day in the life of the nominated physician?
  • What does he/she like to do in their free time? Do they have a family? Children?
If you would like assistancesubmitting a nomination, feel free to contact Greg Roques, Physician Relations advocate, at 504-897-8083, or via email at Greg.Roques@touro.com.
