Breast Health Navigator

Breast Health Navigators are nursing professionals who are specially trained to coordinate the clinical, educational and supportive needs of our patients who are either facing a possible breast cancer diagnosis or newly diagnosed with breast cancer. The navigator is here to help the patient and his or her loved ones navigate along the way through what might be an unfamiliar and often anxiety-inducing process.

The Breast Care Navigator's role includes:
  • Working in conjunction with the radiologists and technologists to ensure that patients receive quality services and continuity of care
  • Communicating with patients and their providers to facilitate the scheduling of diagnostic tests and procedures
  • Helping patients with the interpretation and understanding of test results
  • Improving the time from screening to diagnosis and treatment
  • Collaborating with the radiologist to provide support, education and resources for breast cancer patients and their family members
  • Assisting patients with barriers to care
  • Serving as a resource to patients diagnosed with breast cancer or benign breast changes
