Jennifer Dorion, Registered Nurse
Jennifer has served as a registered nurse at Touro since 2006 and has been a member of the Gulf South Joint Replacement Center team since its opening in March 2007. She holds a Bachelors of Science degree from William Carey College.
Brian Mahl, Registered Nurse
Brian’s professional expertise has been the post-operative rehabilitation of knee, hip and shoulder surgery patients since joining Touro’s staff in 2006. This background experience made him a natural fit when Touro opened the Gulf South Joint Replacement Center. In May 2008, New Orleans CityBuisness recognized Brian as one of its annual Health Care Heroes for the exceptional patient care he delivers working with the Gulf South Joint Replacement Center. Brian holds an associate’s degree in allied health from Delgado Community College and a nursing Degree from the Delgado-Charity School of Nursing.
Heather Uhl, Registered Nurse
Heather brings to the Gulf South Joint Replacement an extensive background in orthopedic nursing sharpened by roughly 20 years of experience here at Touro. Heather served as supervisor for Touro’s orthopedic unit for 10 years and has nearly 17 years of case management experience, mostly working with orthopedic patients. She is a certified orthopedic nurse.
Leslie Parry, Physical Therapist
A graduate of the Louisiana State University Medical Center School of Allied Health, Leslie is the Gulf South Joint Replacement Center’s Physical Therapist. Leslie’s role as the physical therapist is to assist patients in achieving their discharge goals of being able to get out of bed unassisted, to know their home strengthening routines, and to obtain the range of motion and strength to walk a minimum of 200 ft. unassisted.
Al Trevino, RN, Patient Care Manager
Al comes to Gulf South Joint Replacement Center with more than three years experience as a nurse manager at Touro. Al accepted the position of Patient Care Manager nearly two years before the unit opened and played an integral role in its planning and development. Al received is RN from the Charity School of Nursing and brings with him four years experience as an orthopedic surgery assistant.
Lillian O’Cain, Community Liaison
As the community liaison for the Gulf South Joint Replacement Center, Lillian O’Cain conducts educational seminars for the public on hip and knee pain throughout the New Orleans Metropolitan area. These events provide prospective patients suffering from these conditions to learn if they are a candidate for joint replacement surgery and if needed to schedule an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon. An occupational therapist at Touro for nearly 20 years before joining the Gulf South Joint Replacement Center, Lillian holds a Bachelors of Science in Occupational Therapy from the Louisiana State University School of Allied Health.
