Why Kids Konnected is Important • Helpful Words from a Mother • 10 Ways to Help • DOs & DON'Ts • Resources

If you have cancer, your child has questions. When a parent gets cancer, the entire family is affected. Children experience their parent’s diagnosis in their own way and with a variety of feelings. Cancer is not an easy subject to discuss. That is the reason the Kids Konnected program at Touro was created—to help families face the fear and uncertainty that comes with cancer and learn how to cope with it together.

The goal of the Kids Konnected program at Touro is to:

  • help parents learn ways to communicate with their kids about cancer
  • give parents helpful information and resources
  • provide support through group interaction for children and parents so they do not feel “alone”
