Maya Ramos was a college student at Loyola University when she suffered an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in her brain, which means one of blood vessels began to bleed in her brain. She had emergency surgery to save her life. After surgery, she had no mobility on her right side of her body and couldn't talk. The Inpatient Rehabilitation Center has helped Maya to learn how to talk again and maneuver around in a wheelchair. Maya and her mom describes Touro as a family.
