Touro Rehabilitation Center is one of the premier rehabilitation centers in the country, offering in-patient and outpatient rehabilitation services that promote healing and recovery for patients experiencing catastrophic injuries, neurological disorders and diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, stroke, spinal cord injury, and brain injury. Touro Rehabilitation Center staff helps restore function to individuals with a wide variety of medical and physical complications, enabling them to lead active, productive, independent, and fulfilling lives.
Touro Rehabilitation Center was formed in 1984 by experts in the field whose mission was to bring a specialized program to New Orleans that offered superior interdisciplinary rehabilitation services, along with the ability to manage the medical complications often seen in such cases − under one roof within an acute hospital.
Today, Touro Rehabilitation Center enjoys the advantage of having specialized hospitalists in-house to respond to any urgent or emergency need 24/7. Along with the expert skills of the Board Certified Rehabilitation physicians who care for our patients daily, Touro’s full complement of medical and surgical sub-specialties are available to provide services and consultations as needed. These include cardiology, pulmonology, nephrology (dialysis), infectious disease, endocrine, orthopedics, neurology, neurosurgery, wound care, intensive care, imaging, laboratory services and other specialties.
Touro Rehabilitation Center has been CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) accredited for more than 30 years and currently enjoys accreditation in the following programs:
