“ My birthing experience was heartfelt and warming. This was my first time using a midwife for my pregnancy, and it was a completely different experience. I learned more information about my second pregnancy than I did with my first pregnancy. She explained everything and answered all of our questions.”

I was seeing another OB/GYN at another clinic. I told my physician that I did not want any interventions with my birth. I felt like my physician did not listen to me. I was told that I was a high-risk pregnancy because of my age, and I will have to be induced two weeks early. I am 42-years-old. However, I consider myself healthy. I do not have high blood pressure or any other health issues. I decided to do research, and I read the the "Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way" book. I discovered that Touro Infirmary offers midwifery. I toured the Family Birthing Center, and I thought the facility was great. I switched to Touro Infirmary on that day.

I met with Certified Nurse Midwife Tisha Seghers about having a natural birth without any interventions. She was comforting and listened to my concerns. She told me it was possible to give birth without any interventions. She monitored my health throughout the pregnancy, and my health was great throughout the process. When my water broke, Tisha was there for me throughout the whole process. Everything went smoothly. The staff was amazing, and the delivery went by quickly. She explained everything to me during the delivery. With my first birth, I didn't have anything explained to me. I really appreciated that about Tisha. She was very supportive during the delivery.

After the birth, I wanted to know everything, and she still explained everything to me. I never felt rushed when talking to her. She always took her time with us. This was my husband's first child, and he had a lot of questions. She answered all of his questions. My birthing experience was heartfelt and warming. This was my first time using a midwife for my pregnancy, and it was a completely different experience. I learned more information about my second pregnancy than I did with my first pregnancy. She explained everything and answered all of our questions. If I have another baby, without hesistation, I am seeing Tisha. She told me that she wants women to not have fear during birth, and she wants to honor their preferences. Tisha is great!
