Sleep Conditions We Treat

There’s no single reason people have difficulty sleeping. Sometimes poor sleep is caused by stress or changes in life, such as a new baby or menopause. But other chronic sleep problems can be caused by a range of issues, some of which may overlap. Our sleep medicine specialists will work with you to diagnose and treat conditions, including:

  • Abnormal circadian rhythm
  • Chronic snoring
  • Insomnia
  • Narcolepsy
  • Obstructive sleep apnea
  • Restless leg syndrome
  • Sleepwalking
  • Teeth grinding (bruxism)

Often, sleep problems can be symptoms of other medical conditions, such as cardiovascular disease or depression. If our providers suspect there are multiple causes for your sleep deprival, we will ensure you are referred to additional LCMC Health experts.

Advanced Diagnostic Sleep Testing

Sometimes sleep problems can be tricky to diagnose. LCMC Health Sleep Centers—accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine—offer a dedicated space to conduct sleep studies while making the experience as comfortable as possible. Some of the assessments we offer include:

  • Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) titration studies to ensure treatments for sleep apnea and other disorders work effectively
  • Diagnostic sleep studies (daytime and overnight), which can help diagnose sleep apnea and other conditions
  • Maintenance of wakefulness testing to monitor the success of CPAP, medication or other sleep therapy or ensure you can stay awake and alert for your job as a pilot or truck driver, for example
  • Multiple sleep latency testing used to diagnose narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia (excessive daytime sleepiness)

In addition to physicians and nurses on site, our studies are conducted by licensed respiratory therapists and registered polysomnographic technologists.

Comprehensive CPAP Care

If you or a loved one has sleep apnea, CPAP treatment is a common solution for many people. But sleeping with a machine on your face can take time to adjust to. LCMC Health sleep care specialists will help make sure your machine is working as planned. We can also help you manage insurance coverage issues and troubleshoot problems like skin irritation, claustrophobia, swollen skin, dry mouth, and noise.
